Dr. Dinesh Sabnis, Asst.General Manager-Sports in Ashoka Group of Schools & Commander in Chief & Ambassador-CSLI India in Lazarus Union receives the Global 50 Glory Award 2021 for achievement in Education and Humanitarian support. He has always enjoyed working in sectors like Sports, Health & Humanitarian. Here’s an exclusive interview with Dr. Dinesh Sabnis:
Please tell us a bit about yourself.
I am Ex Ranji Player and worked for Indian Custom Department for almost 12 years. Last two decades, I have been working as Senior Educationist & Sports Mentor for various esteemed organisations & Schools (IB Board, ICSE & IGCSE). My recent profile has been Asst.General Manager-Sports in Ashoka Group of Schools, Nashik, India.
I have also been involved in humanitarian projects related to Sustainable Development Goals of Good Health & Wellbeing (SDG-3), Quality Education (SDG-4) & Peace Justice & Strong Institutions through UN ECOSOC General Consultative Status Organisations such as Lazarus Union based in Austria & Soldiers of Peace International Association based in France.
What were the challenges that you faced initially and how did you overcome them?
It has never been an easy path especially after I left Government services & joined Education Sector which demanded constant upgradation. For me in the Education Sector challenges was to stay constantly updated with new teaching learning process & current knowledge that was required to overcome education leadership skills. And to achieve & overcome these challenges I did my Post Graduation & Doctorate in Physical Education & simultaneously updated myself in Education leadership skills, Communication skills, Conflict Management skills & Management skills through various courses & seminars of various Institutes in India & abroad.
What has been your most significant achievement?
Achievements are very vital in everyone life as it gives us tremendous satisfaction & motivation to go ahead with good work. The Past few years has been quite successful years for me as I achieved many laurels in my field of Education & Humanitarian work that I did for International NGOs & The Indian Society. To mention few are as below:
- I have been appointed as Goodwill Ambassador for International Society of Diplomats & Ghana United Nations Association-GUNA
- Got appointed as Ambassador, Honorary Professor & Head of the Department-PE for Central Christian University.
- Got appointed as CEO & Secretary General in Indian Delegation of Soldiers of Peace International Association- AISP SPIA
- Got appointed as Commander in Chief & Ambassador to India in Lazarus Union
- Got appointment as Honorary Director post of India in European Auxillary Police Association & EuroPolice Association
- I have been awarded by various Government Organisations & Esteemed Private Institutions various awards such as Indian Sports Lifetime Achievement Award, Atal National Award, Rajya Puraskar, Global Teacher Award, Rashtriya Shiksha Award, Most Influential Peoples Award 2021 & most recent one Global 50 Glory Award from HBW News.
- I was also awarded the most prestigious decree of Honorary Colonel from Governor of Kentucky- United States of America.
How do you come up with new ideas?
Sports, Health & Humanitarian work has been my passion & have enjoyed working in this sector thoroughly. I have experienced that if you are passionate about your work it aspire you to come up with new projects, new thought processes & new creative plans that would give success in your career. It is my experience that more you communicate with senior people all over the world it happens that we get to learn a lot of thought processes from such people creating many new ideas to grow further.
Who is your biggest inspiration?
My biggest inspiration has been my family who has always stood beside me like wall & have strongly supported me in my career. I also wish to mention few of the mentors who have inspired me and have taught me in my career path such as Mr. Balwinder Sandhu (Ex. International Cricket Player & Coach) & Mr. Shrikant Shukla (Hon. Secretary of Ashoka Group of Schools).
What motivates you?
Motivation for me has been able to share ideas & successfully able to implement it with precision. I believe that if you work on a topic that fascinates you, motivation will always stay alive in you.
What does a typical day look like for you?
I am an organised person and believe in time management. My day is planned & synchronized simultaneously I do find a few moments of relaxing & of entertainment in it.
Who do you look toward for advice?
My Parents & My Mentors wisely give me advice whenever it is required.
How do you define success?
Success is a satisfying feeling of achieving those tasks that are difficult & challenging in our life & career.
What are your growth plans for the next 12 months?
I believe in life we will face never ending difficult tasks and they are going to be quite challenging most of the time. My next 12 months plans are to keep working on my weakness & overcome them at the earliest through CPD training & development programs.
