PM Modi Makes Sustainable Statement with Recycled Plastic Bottle ‘Sadri’ Jacket in Parliament
Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a bold statement at the Parliament on Wednesday, when he wore a special jacket made from recycled plastic bottles. The light-blue sleeveless ‘sadri’ jacket was presented to the Prime Minister by the Indian Oil Corporation during the inauguration of the India Energy Week in Bengaluru on Monday.
The jacket was not only a stylish addition to Modi’s wardrobe but also a symbol of the Indian government’s efforts to reduce plastic waste and promote sustainability. The ‘unbottled’ initiative was launched by Modi during India Energy Week and aimed at reducing the amount of discarded plastic bottles that end up in landfills or oceans.
During the inauguration, Modi also stressed the importance of the energy sector in deciding the future of the world in the 21st century. He said that India has unprecedented possibilities in the energy sector and is one of the strongest voices in developing new resources of energy and in the energy transition.
Modi also received an Argentina football team jersey with star striker Lionel Messi’s name on the back from Pablo Gonzalez, the president of YPF – a majority state-owned Argentine energy company. The Prime Minister’s unique style statement and his efforts to promote sustainability have received widespread praise on social media.
Modi’s commitment to reducing plastic waste is in line with the Indian government’s efforts to create a cleaner and greener environment. India is home to one of the largest populations in the world and is facing increasing challenges due to the growing problem of plastic waste. The country is already taking steps to reduce plastic usage, such as banning single-use plastic and promoting the use of alternatives such as jute and cloth bags.
In recent years, India has also become a leader in renewable energy, with the government setting a target to have 40% of its total power generation capacity from non-fossil fuels by 2030. The country has made significant progress in the deployment of solar and wind energy and is working to further expand its renewable energy portfolio.
Modi’s efforts to promote sustainability and reduce plastic waste are not only important for the environment, but also for the country’s economy. The increasing problem of plastic waste is not only affecting the environment but is also creating economic and health problems. By reducing plastic waste, the Indian government is helping to create a cleaner and healthier environment and promoting economic growth.
