Wembanyama makes history, leads Spurs to win over Nets

Victor Wembanyama became the first player in NBA history to record 100 points and 15 blocks across the first three games of a regular season, as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Brooklyn Nets 118–107 in Texas.

San Antonio recovered after surrendering a 26-point lead to maintain their perfect start to the season. The Spurs led 81–55 midway through the third quarter before a 26–7 Nets run cut the deficit to seven, but a dominant fourth-quarter surge — capped by a 10–0 stretch — sealed the victory.

Wembanyama led the way with 31 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, three steals, and six blocks in 36 minutes. The 21-year-old Frenchman, selected first overall in the 2023 draft, is averaging 33.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, and six blocks through his first three games this season.

The 7ft 4in center returned from an eight-month layoff after undergoing shoulder surgery for deep vein thrombosis in February.
