After India’s win over England, Dinesh Karthik presented Rishabh Pant with the ‘Fielder of the Match’ award
After India’s impressive victory over England, the Men in Blue are on the verge of ending their ICC trophy drought since the 2013 Champions Trophy and securing their first T20 World Cup title since the inaugural edition in South Africa in 2007. The official handle of the Board of Control for Cricket in India shared a video of the post-match medal ceremony held in the dressing room.
India’s fielding coach T. Dilip praised the fielding efforts of Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Suryakumar Yadav in the semi-final match.
Presenting Pant with the award, Karthik remarked, “There are many stories in sport, but few are as remarkable as the one I’m about to honor. A year ago, maybe six months ago, no one would have expected him to be here. He has made millions happy just by being on the field.”
In the match summary, England, led by Jos Buttler, won the toss and chose to bowl against Rohit Sharma’s India. Contributions from Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav helped India reach 171/7, with support from Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja.
Chris Jordan starred for England, taking three wickets for 37 runs in his three overs. However, England struggled during their chase, managing only 103 runs in 16.4 overs, with Harry Brook and Jos Buttler being the standout performers.
Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav shone for India in the bowling department, each taking three wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets to secure India’s 68-run victory defending a target of 172 runs.
The stage is now set for an exciting T20 World Cup final between the unbeaten teams, India and South Africa, scheduled to take place in Barbados on Saturday.
