Elon Musk’s recent tweets appear to confirm rumours that he and Shivon Zilis, an executive at his technology company Neuralink, are expecting twins in late 2021.

The Tesla CEO just welcomed a second child with his sporadic partner, the electronic singer Grimes.

According to reports published on Wednesday, Mr. Musk and Ms. Zilis, 36, had twins in November 2021.

On Thursday, in response, Mr. Musk tweeted that he was “doing my best to help the underpopulation situation.”

He continued, reiterating his prior remarks and expressing fears about a demographic catastrophe, claiming “a plummeting birth rate is by far the largest peril civilization confronts.”

Given that he has already fathered twins and triplets with his ex-wife, Canadian author Justine Wilson, Mr. Musk will be the father of his second set of twins with Ms. Zilis.

In the subsequent two years, he had two children with Grimes: X A-Xii and Exa Dark Siderael.

The corporate tycoon and software titan has previously asserted that the rise of artificial intelligence and a declining birth rate could lead to a global population of “not enough people.”

Court records identified Ms. Zilis and Mr. Musk on a petition to change a child’s name that was submitted to a Texas district court in April 2022, according to a story on Wednesday by the American media outlet Insider.

“We would like the children to have their father’s last name and their mother’s last name as part of their middle name,” was the stated reason for the name change request.

Before taking on her position as a top executive and director at Neuralink, Ms. Zilis reportedly had a number of positions at businesses led by Mr. Musk, including Tesla.

In 2015, Mr. Musk co-founded the Neurotechnology and Artificial Intelligence Organization.

The news of Mr. Musk’s twins comes just a few weeks after it was made public that his daughter Vivian had taken steps to distance herself from him. In a petition to change her legal name and gender, Vivian stated that she no longer wanted to “be related to my biological father in any way, shape, or form.”
