Kim Petras has called off her festival appearances scheduled for summer 2024
Singer Kim Petras has regretfully canceled all her summer festival appearances this year due to health issues.
In a statement released on X, she expressed her devastation over making this decision under medical advice. While not disclosing the specific medical problems, the German pop star had been slated to perform at the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona in May and London’s Mighty Hoopla festival in June. Assuring fans of her love and promising to make it up to them, she pledged to return better than ever soon.
In 2023, Petras made history as the first openly transgender artist to win in a major category at the Grammy Awards for her collaboration with Sam Smith, “Unholy,” winning in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category. The song also marked her first UK number one hit, a milestone she expressed gratitude for, acknowledging the significance for the transgender community.
Petras was featured in Jennifer Lopez’s film “This Is Me… Now: A Love Story,” sharing the screen with Jane Fonda, Post Malone, Sofia Vergara, and Keke Palmer. Additionally, the 31-year-old artist had to cancel performances at both the Primavera Sound festival in Porto and the Capitol Hill Block Party in Seattle.
