Nuclear Weapon Ban Treaty to enter into force in January

On Saturday, the United Nations reported that 50 nations have sanctioned a U.N. treaty to ban nuclear weapons, which will come into effect in 90 days.

According to the UN chief Antonio Guterres, this treaty will lead to a worldwide movement “to draw attention to catastrophic humanitarian consequences of any use of nuclear weapons” and “is a tribute to survivors of nuclear explosions and tests, many of whom advocated for this treaty”.
