After ’10 incredible years,’ Little Mix is taking a break
Little Mix have announced that they will be taking a break after their 2022 tour, but they will not be breaking up forever.
On Wednesday evening, the band announced their break on social media.
Despite the statement, the band claims to have more music, tours, and performances planned for the future.
Little Mix fan Ashton Braithwaite has been a fan for the past 10 years and says he’s fine with the group’s decision to take a break.
This isn’t the first time a major pop group has announced a temporary breakup only to reunite after years apart.
When One Direction split up in 2015, it was only said to be a temporary move. However, Ashton and Kirsty are optimistic about Little Mix’s ability to deliver on their promises to fans and their collective strength.
Little Mix told Newsbeat on the red carpet at the 2017 Brit Awards that they would never, ever break up.
Ashton says he’ll be paying close attention to their solo efforts, and he hopes Little Mix fans will do the same.
When Jesy Nelson left the band in December 2020, the group moved from a four-piece to a trio, but they’ve had a streak of hits since then.
Heartbreak Anthem, with Galantis, and Confetti, featuring Saweetie, were their biggest hits in 2021.
Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall, the remaining members, issued their first greatest hits CD last month, just months after both Perrie and Leigh-Anne gave birth to their first children. Fans reacted positively to the news, praising the band and thanking them for a decade of hit singles.
In 2011, Little Mix debuted on The X Factor as Rhythmix. After a similar-sounding charity threatened legal action, the name was altered.
Their first two songs, Cannonball, the X Factor winner’s song, and Wings, both reached No. 1 in the UK charts, and they’ve had at least one Top Ten success every year since.
