Ed Sheeran and Camila Cabello have been added to the Ukraine performance lineup
Next week’s Concert For Ukraine, which will be televised on ITV and STV, will feature Camila Cabello, Ed Sheeran, and Snow Patrol.
Emeli Sande, Becky Hill, Gregory Porter, and Chic are among the other artists on the bill, with more to be announced.
The event will take place in Birmingham on March 29th, and tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, March 22nd.
Cabello expressed her “heartbreak” for the Ukrainian people, adding that “we all have a responsibility” to help.
Emma Bunton, Marvin Humes, and Ronan Kemp will host the event, which will also feature performances from The Manic Street Preachers and Tom Odell.
The concert’s proceeds will benefit the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal, which provides food, water, shelter, and medical help to refugees in Ukraine and neighbouring countries. ITV has also promised to give all sponsorship and advertising revenue earned by the show, which is expected to be around £3 million, to the cause.
ITV is producing the show in collaboration with Global radio, which will air bass’s live, behind-the-scenes coverage on its Heart and Capital stations.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is already in its fourth week. The United Nations’ Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights believes that 2,361 civilians have died as a result of the violence in that period (902 killed and 1,459 injured). According to the United Nations, almost 1.85 million Ukrainians have been displaced.
The country’s singers have helped to document the violence and dispel misunderstandings among their Russian fans.
The film was shot last week in Lviv and includes footage of the attacks on Ukraine’s cities captured by the band’s relatives and friends. The song’s proceeds will benefit the Free Ukraine Resistance Movement, which will use them to help establish a common communications infrastructure that will alert the public to threats and lobby for international assistance.
The band is now also contributing to the war effort. Zholob is also an orthopaedic surgeon who works with war casualties and soldiers. Bohdan Hrynko, a drummer, and Oleg Hula, a bassist, have joined the territorial defence.
