World’s cleanest: Two more Indian beaches receive Blue Flag cerfication; tally now 12

Two more Indian beaches gained the famous Blue Flag accreditation and were added to the list of the world’s cleanest beaches, bringing the total number of India’s “Blue Beaches” to 12.
The Lakshadweep beaches Thundi and Kadmat have earned the Blue Flag destination.
Other beaches recognised with the prestigious certification include Golden Beach in Odisha, Shivrajpur Beach in Gujarat, Kappad Beach in Kerala, Ghoghla Beach in Diu, Radhanagar Beach in Andaman and Nicobar, Kasarkod Beach in Karnataka, Padubidri Beach in Karnataka, Rushikonda Beach in Andhra Pradesh, Kovalam Beach in Tamil Nadu, and Eden Beach (Puducherry).
Asia’s first Blue Flag-certified beach is located on Puri’s Golden Beach. According to ABP live, Kovalam Beach in Tamil Nadu and Eden Beach in Puducherry received the accreditation in 2021.
The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), a non-profit organisation established in Denmark, grants the Blue Flag Certification. The world’s cleanest beaches are accorded this eco-label.
There are around 33 strict requirements that must be met in order to receive the Blue Flag designation. The criteria cover a wide range of topics, including access, safety, education, and the environment.
Bhupender Yadav, the Union Minister for Environment, Forestry, and Climate Change, expressed his satisfaction and said that this was a result of India’s tireless effort under Prime Minister Narendra Modi to create a sustainable environment.
The Prime Minister concurred, saying, “This is fantastic! I’d want to congratulate everyone on this achievement, especially the people of Lakshadweep. India has a beautiful coastline, and its citizens are very passionate about promoting coastal cleanliness.
