Elon Musk hails Vivek Ramaswamy as a promising’ US presidential hopeful.

Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest individual, has shown admiration for Republican presidential contender Vivek Ramaswamy, labelling him a “very promising candidate.” Ramaswamy, an Indian American, unveiled his bid for the 2024 presidency in February, rapidly ascending within the ranks of the Republican Party due to his incisive rhetoric. As the inaugural Republican primary debate looms less than a week away, the affluent biotech entrepreneur has ramped up his campaign efforts through public gatherings and interviews.

Prominent conservative commentator Tucker Carlson shared a complete interview of Ramaswamy on the X platform (formerly Twitter), remarking, “Vivek Ramaswamy is the youngest Republican presidential candidate ever. He’s worth listening to.” In response to this post, Elon Musk, who owns X, remarked, “He is a very promising candidate.” At the time of writing, Musk’s post had garnered over 16 million impressions.

Ramaswamy has positioned China as the “greatest threat” to the United States and outlined his intention to pursue “total de-coupling” from Beijing if he assumes power. He also emphasised his aspiration to re-establish trade relations in the Pacific region, cultivating partnerships with nations such as India, Japan, and South Korea.

Ramaswamy declared in a previous appearance with Fox News that “China is the biggest threat the United States confronts, and Xi Jinping is the tyrant. I think I am the clearest candidate for declaring a clear path to economic independence from China. That would be the first step in our policy.” He went on to emphasise his commitment to a “total decoupling” from China, which would involve limiting the business activities of most U.S. companies in Beijing.

“I favor complete decoupling. I would forbid the majority of US businesses from doing business in China until and unless the CCP changes its behavior. There might be immediate repercussions, but if we know what we are sacrificing for, I believe we are capable of doing so. Ramaswamy added, “I also believe that when you are most willing to make an offering, you actually aren’t required to make one at all.
