NFL star Travis Kelce to host a celebrity game show for Amazon
Travis Kelce, the NFL player renowned for his success with the Kansas City Chiefs and his relationship with Taylor Swift, is set to venture into the world of game shows as the host of a new series for Amazon Prime Video.
Titled “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” the show will feature contestants tackling primary school-level trivia questions with the assistance of famous guests. This programme is a spin-off of the well-known Fox series “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” which debuted in 2007.
Kelce, 34, expressed his excitement about the opportunity, emphasising his lifelong love for game shows. Having secured victory in the Super Bowl three times, he brings both sports prowess and entertainment flair to his new role.
In a statement, Kelce shared his enthusiasm, stating, “The original show is a great success, so bringing a new format with everyone’s favourite celebrities to the screen will definitely be entertaining.” He added, “I’m just happy to be on the hosting side of the equation here and excited to see how these famous faces keep up.”
Amazon revealed that the series will feature adult contestants seeking assistance from a “classroom” full of celebrities to navigate through 11 questions inspired by an elementary school curriculum. Contestants stand to win a cash prize of $100,000, with the celebrities serving as allies rather than competitors. The streamer noted that contestants might even be permitted to “cheat” on their celebrity partners.
The new show has been greenlit for twenty episodes, promising viewers a blend of education and entertainment. Alongside his hosting duties, Kelce hosts a sports podcast titled “New Heights,” showcasing his versatility in the media landscape.
Kelce’s foray into game show hosting marks another exciting chapter in his multifaceted career, adding a fresh dimension to his already impressive portfolio. With his charisma and sporting acumen, he’s poised to captivate audiences in this thrilling new role.
