Adele announces she will be taking an extended break from music
Adele has announced her intention to take an extended hiatus from music following her current series of concerts. Speaking to German broadcaster ZDF ahead of her 10-date residency in Munich, she expressed feeling emotionally drained after completing her 90th show at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. Despite the manageable crowd size, she described the experience as a profound exchange of energy.
Reflecting on her future plans, Adele disclosed, “I don’t have any plans for new music at all. I want a big break after all this and I think I want to do other creative things just for a little while.” She also revealed that she rarely sings at home anymore, a sentiment she finds unusual.
Adele’s last album was released in 2021, and her Las Vegas residency is set to conclude in November. While the experience has had its emotional challenges, including an incident where she confronted an audience member, Adele remains focused on her upcoming shows in Munich, which are expected to draw 74,000 fans each night in a specially-built stadium.
The singer expressed excitement about the elaborate “Adele experience” planned for her Munich concerts, featuring an English pub, a cover band stage, and unique cocktails. She also highlighted the massive video screens that will enhance the viewing experience for attendees.
Despite the anticipation surrounding her Munich shows, tickets have not completely sold out, particularly at the upper and lower ends of the price range. Adele admitted that one of the reasons she desires a break from music is her struggle with fame, expressing nostalgia for the anonymity she enjoyed before becoming a global sensation.
