Football club “Inter Milan” defeated opponent “AC Milan” and headed to the Champions League final.

In order to advance to their first “Champions League final” in 13 years and set up a matchup with either Real Madrid or Manchester City, “Inter Milan” defeated local rivals “AC Milan” 1-0 on Tuesday.

In the 74th minute, Lautaro Martinez’s goal put an end to Milan’s hopes of staging a comeback after Inter had led 2-0 in the first leg of the semi-final. The Nerazzurri advanced to their first final since they won the league, “Italian Cup,” and “Champions League” under Jose Mourinho in 2010 by winning the so-called “Euro derby” 3-0 on aggregate.

Romelu Lukaku setup Martnez for the lone goal on the second leg at the San Siro, and it was the same potent attacking combination that propelled Inter to the Serie A title two years ago that proved decisive once more.

On June 10, Inter will play one of Real Madrid or Manchester City in Istanbul. With a score of 1-1 going into Wednesday’s second leg of the other semifinal, the match is tied.

Milan wanted to end a protracted wait for another final appearance. When they won the final of their “seven championships in 2007,” they last participated in the grand finale.

Rafael Leao’s return to the Rossoneri was made possible. Milan hoped that by making a comeback, he would encourage the team to follow suit after missing last week’s loss due to a thigh injury.

The difference was immediately noticeable as both teams got off to a frantic start, and Milan played with a level of intensity they sorely lacked in the first leg.

Andre Onana of Inter comfortably stopped a shaky shot from Brahim Dáz early on, and just before halftime, Leao nearly gave Milan a chance to get back into the game with his first real shot on goal. The winger accelerated into the area from the left side, but his slanted shot grazed the outside of the far post.

Martinez moved into the left side of the area, passed to Lukaku, who had replaced Edin Dzeko less than 10 minutes earlier, and then fired at the near post to give Inter a 1-0 victory and a spot in the championship game.
