Google is gearing up to manufacture its Pixel smartphones in India, with production set to take place at an existing Foxconn facility in Tamil Nadu.

Additionally, the tech giant plans to independently manufacture drones in the state. This move aligns with the trend of global firms diversifying their supply chains away from China amid geopolitical tensions.

Last year, Google announced its intention to produce Pixel smartphones in India, starting with the Pixel 8. The company views India as a priority market and aims to deliver top-notch hardware and software capabilities to users across the country.

Sources indicate that advanced versions of Pixel smartphones will roll out from the Tamil Nadu facility within this year, following a contract signing between Google and Foxconn. This decision follows discussions between state officials and Google executives, with further meetings planned with Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister, MK Stalin.
